Feeding and Swallowing Disorders in Children

By:

"A child with a feeding disorder will keep having trouble. Some children will eat only certain foods, or they may take a long time to eat. These children may also have a feeding disorder."
Feeding and eating disorders in children can develop into very serious problems. I see many children between the ages of 3-10 that have trouble eating or become 'picky eaters'.
This article from ASHA is one of the best I have seen. If you are a parent and you suspect that your child may have a feeding or eating disorder, I suggest you read this immediately. This article will help you identify:
- The phases of eating
- Signs of trouble in eating or swallowing
- Causes of feeding and swallowing disorders.
The article goes even further in that you can do certain tests to see if these disorders do exist. If you think that you child may have any of the disorders shown in the article, you should call us right away and schedule an evaluation.
