Nose: The more you use it, the better it works.
Nasal breathing is one of the most important things you can do for your body. We have all had a moment when we have had a cold and found it difficult to breathe through our nose. At Simply Communication we incorporate an overall breathing assessment into each of our evaluations. The job of the mouth is for eating and speaking, the job of the nose is for breathing. As quoted from Straight Talk about Crooked Teeth by Dr. S. Kent Lauson, “In simple terms, oxygen is the body’s number-one nutrient, and a person will die when deprived of it for even a few minutes. Because of this, the body has a built-in protection mechanism”. If the nose is blocked, the body will protect itself and open the mouth to allow you to breath. We are designed to breathe through the nose. If you are having trouble breathing through the nose, take a moment to watch this video from Patrick with the Buteyko Clinic International on how to unblock the nose.
